Kimberly Nicolettisummit daily newsSummit County, CO Colorado

We hate to admit it, but Summits mountain activities can have a downside: sore muscles and wind-burned faces. Luckily, Summits towns have more than their fair share of spas to soothe aching bodies and dry skin.Serenity Spa & SalonReaders of the Summit Daily News voted Serenity as the best day spa, best hair salon, best manicure and best customer service establishment in Summit County in 2006.Located in Keystone, the spa is the only in the county to use Aveda products. As one of the newer spas in the area, it provides a modern and sophisticated atmosphere. Entering the treatment area, complete with a fireside relaxation room, makes you feel like youre walking into a sanctuary. The Floating Massage cradles your body in warm water-filled cushions. The High Altitude Hydrating Facial helps repair and protect skin. The spas signature facial includes a head, shoulder and foot massage.Just as Aveda has set the bar for excellence, Serenity Spa & Salon has set the standard for excellence in customer care and individual needs, its brochure promises and the technicians deliver. The Spa at Keystone LodgeYou dont have to stay at Keystone Lodge to enjoy a day at the spa and fitness center. Book a Wild Lime Blossom scalp and neck massage (a perfect antidote to jet lag, altitude adjustment and fatigue), an Alpine Sports Massage (to release toxins from overused joints and muscles), a Chinese Herb Radiant Skin Treatment or any other service, and you can spend the day soaking in one of two hot tubs, steaming in a sauna and swimming in an indoor pool that flows outdoors. The winding road makes you feel as though youre on top of the world. Nestled above town, guests cant help but feel as though they really are away from everything. Even the pool, which is part of the complementary fitness center, looks different: Blue columns accent a blue floor, making it feel more like a Mediterranean resort than a mountain retreat. The facility offers free Pilates, Tai Chi and Qi Gong classes for the day. And if youre looking for the cozy log and leather look, the lodge upstairs delivers.Nourishing mud wraps envelope your entire body in mineral rich, organic mud to detoxify and replenish skin; an oxygenating facial brightens dull skin with an infusion of oxygen; and a Mountain Lomi Lomi provides a high-elevation version of the Hawaiian massage technique of simulating rising and falling ocean waves, created from the therapists upper arms, elbows and wrists. The spa features Pevonia Botanica, formulated from rich marine botanicals, and Fall River Blending Company oils, which use the finest essential oils and Native American herbs. Blue Sage Spa therapists also have a location near City Market, called A Healing Touch Center. Co-owners Mapes and Amy Beckett are both massage therapists, and theyre very particular about the people they hire.We get a lot of comments from our clients that say, Oh my god, this is the best massage Ive ever had, Mapes said. We never rest on our laurels. Were constantly raising the bar.Its no wonder locals voted the spa the best, three years in a row.Mountain Sanctuary Day SpaMountain Sanctuary in Breckenridge prides itself on being friendly and affordable. She uses Cosmedix, a medical-grade, all natural skin care line, and MyChelle, a locally-owned all natural line.I dont want to put junk on peoples skin just to get results, but I do use (natural products) that are going to work, Weber said.
