Info on open space

I would like to thank Shauna Farnell and the Summit Daily News for the positive acknowledgement of the work that the Breckenridge Open Space and Trails Division has accomplished on recent trail projects in the “Connecting the middle of Breckenridge with the backcountry” article last week. The Golden Horseshoe trails planning and the development of the new trail alignment in the north Baldy area are important projects for creating and maintaining public access from the core of Breckenridge into the county and Forest Service lands.I would like, however, to add that the Summit County Open Space and Trails Department has been an equal partner in those projects specifically mentioned in the article, as well as numerous others. Our joint partnership has experienced tremendous success, from receiving a state trails grant for the new trail to the pending acquisition of B&B Mines property, which will have a significant impact on trails opportunities in the backcountry.Todd Robertson, Brian Lorch and Scott Reid have put extensive time and effort into Upper Blue open space and trails projects, and the Breckenridge citizens have felt privileged to have the degree of commitment from the County that we have received over the years since the initiation of our open space program.Heide Andersenopen space and trails plannerTown of Breckenridge
