International tourism organization recognizes Breckenridge’s plastic and material management
Breckenridge was recognized by an international tourism organization, Green Destinations, for its work on plastic and material management.
The town earned a spot in the organization’s competition “Top 100 Destinations Stories” after submitting information about its work around plastic and material management. It is eligible to be a finalist for a story category related to climate and environment, which is one of a handful of categories.
The town will find out if it is a finalist in January, according to its sustainability staff. Awards are doled out at a conference in Berlin.
The town, last year, won one of the awards for its efforts around creating alternative transportation initiatives that support the goal of having more “boots and bikes” and less cars.
