Irene Clark Bird dies

Irene Clark Bird of Silverthorne died June 21, 2005. She lived with her daughter, Janice Clark Vliet, since 2003, but had spent most of her 90 years in Old Forge, N.Y.Although educated as a registered nurse, she became a successful businesswoman who, along with her first husband, built and operated a resort motel and then a mobile home park in the New York Adirondack mountains.She is survived by daughter Janice, son-in-law David Bittner and four grandchildren: Holle Vliet of Orcutt, Calif., Colin Clark of Old Forge, Whitney Clark Ossias of Selkirk, N.Y., and Kara Clark of Silverthorne.She also had one great-grandchild, Rebekah. Bird is preceded in death by her first husband, Fenton Clark, her second husband, Norton Bird, and her son, Brian.A memorial will be held in Old Forge on Aug. 14, with intunment thereafter.
