Jan Stansen: Too much on the Dam Road?

Jan StansenDillon

With an 11.4 percent unemployment rate in Summit County, what are our county commissioners doing and thinking by spending $450,000 to work on the Dillon Dam Road?Having been one of those unemployed for over a year, I would love to know why Summit County is willing to spend almost half a million dollars to build an unnecessary roundabout on the Dam Road, in lieu of putting its residents back to work.I just don’t get it.

Editor’s note: The bulk of that work was paid for by Denver Water, while the county’s portion represented regular maintenance of the road. According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, the in Summit County as of July was 8 percent.
