Jay Weinstein: Flight For Life well established in Summit

I read with great interest the press release by Vail Valley Medical Center and their pending start for patient helicopter service for the Western Slope. It is most interesting that Vail Valley led the readership to believe that the Western Slope communities has not had emergency helicopter service for our many communities in need of such a service.

Please remember, and lets not forget that Centura, St. Anthony’s Hospitals, have been providing a state-wide helicopter service since the early 1970s and have an excellent service emanating out of St. Anthony’s Summit Medical Center, commonly known as Lifeguard 2. The name of the service is synonymous with excellence, “Flight for Life.” St. Anthony’s and its affiliates have provided our many communities in the State of Colorado with the most highly trained pilots, EMT’s, paramedics, nurses and support staff to assure that emergency transport needs are met with dispatch.

Also, please keep in mind that the aircraft are stationed at Centura Hospitals for immediate dispatch and coordination with the receiving hospitals and emergency room physicians. The highly trained and competent Flight for Life Staff take great pride in providing air and ground transportation as the need presents itself. We are very fortunate to have Centura, and it’s affiliated hospitals and, specifically our St. Anthony’s Summit Medical Center, as long standing partners serving the needs of our citizens throughout Colorado.
