Jen Barchers: Dillon noise lawsuit wrongheaded

It is my hope that Mr. Klug and his small group of supporters do not crush the life out of Adriano’s Bistro and the town of Dillon, which is already struggling to revitalize its image. As a homeowner living less than a block from Adriano’s Bistro, I am embarrassed and saddened by the actions of my fellow neighbors regarding pending legal action stemming from music volumes from the restaurant’s beautiful new patio. My windows and deck face Adriano’s, and the noise level of the music is completely reasonable and not at all intrusive. On the contrary, I am thrilled to see the packed crowds at Adriano’s and appreciate the sounds of the music which supports local musicians and brings visitors into the town core.

Dillon has amazing potential to become charming mountain town, but lawsuits between neighbors and town businesses will strangle the town from future growth. Why would an entrepreneur want to open shop in a town where bringing in music and vibrancy could get him sued? And what kind of image does it send when one of its citizens defines a minor noise issue as being in “desperate straits?” It is discouraging and disappointing to see this kind of attack on a fine local business that is offering a wonderful new option for dining and entertainment. I encourage the residents of Dillon to patronize Adriano’s, sign the petition, and support a business that is bringing life to a town committed to revitalization.
