Jennifer Wolinetz: Let’s groom the recpaths

Wouldn’t it be great if the communities of Summit County groomed and plowed sections of the recpath for skiers, runners and snowshoers to use during the winter? This way locals and visitors alike could skate-ski with their dogs and babies, and those crazy folks who like to run could have a drier place to train. Numerous others ski towns that also have Nordic centers including Steamboat, Telluride, Jackson, Aspen and the entire Roaring Fork valley provide this service to anyone who wants additional ways to play outside. How do we make this happen here?

Summit Daily is embarking on a multiyear project to digitize its archives going back to 1989 and make them available to the public in partnership with the Colorado Historic Newspapers Collection. The full project is expected to cost about $165,000. All donations made in 2023 will go directly toward this project.

Every contribution, no matter the size, will make a difference.
