Jim Braun: Acoustics terrible at Breckenridge Riverwalk Center
Dillon
The acoustics in the Riverwalk Center for last night’s Pat Green concert were terrible. I spoke with at least 20 people during and after the show and all concurred that deciphering Pat’s lyrics (the reason one listens to his music) was impossible and it wasn’t the fault of the sound board operator that works with this band.
I’ve been to at least 25 concerts at the Riverwalk over the years and have found the same thing to be true whenever the style of music offered is intended to be amplified and electrified. Last winter’s Los Lobos show was equally hard to enjoy, and I fear that the upcoming Los Lonely Boys show will be much less enjoyable than it would be if the Riverwalk figured out the acoustics. It is unfortunate that other venues in the county such as the Silverthorne Pavilion and the Dercum Center are undersized because they took the time to get the acoustics right before booking such bands and charging what it takes to bring in national recording acts. Like it or not, Breck represents the entire county in the sense that people remember events held there when choosing where to spend their vacation dollars. It would help us all if the people in charge of the Riverwalk’s acoustics would consult with a sound engineer and make some improvements
