Jim Ernst: Congratulations to Silverthorne

Jim Ernst

I would like to congratulate the candidates of Dave Anderson, Darrick Wade and David Preaus – new Silverthorne councilmembers. And, I would like to congratulate the voters of Silverthorne. There were 614 voters versus only 246 during the 2008 election. The numbers say a lot about the involvement of Silverthorne citizens.

There were no losers in this contest. Both Russell Camp and Stuart Richardson have been and will continue to be involved in serving the citizens of Silverthorne. A previous writer suggested this was a neighborhood against neighborhood contest. But I feel the voters rejected this notion and voted for who they felt would best represent them. We are extremely fortunate in our community. We have countless volunteers serving on commissions, boards, etc. – not only in Silverthorne but in Summit County. They give countless hours of their time on a weekly/monthly basis so we can enjoy the benefits of their service. And, they ask for nothing in return. All in all this was a win-win for all of us.
