John Snook: Congress the real problem

John Snook

Mr. Fanning: Yes, I can stand another four years of President Obama. The unemployment statistics cited are real, but do we know that a McCain presidency would have done better? I doubt it. President Obama is arrogant and incompetent because he went on a vacation? Presidents, no matter their party affiliation, do not get vacations. Whether it is in Panama City, Fla. or Crawford, Texas, the president gets briefed and makes decisions daily.

Presidential vacations do not affect policy, their actions do. The real problem lies in Congress. The timing of President Obama’s speech is a perfect example. Mr. Obama chose to deliver his employment speech a week earlier. Speaker of the House Boehner requested a later date, which President Obama compromised on. When will we see any compromise come from the House? Therein lays the problem and why Congress currently has a 12 percent approval rating. What we need are legislators who are willing to put the American public above corporations and their special interest lobby money. Oh and by the way, the stock market went up 275 points Wednesday.
