Johnson: Ask taxpayers their preference on new library

Daniel Johnson,
Breckenridge

Thank you for publishing all the recent info about the new Breckenridge library. I knew the town council has been thinking about turning the old CMC into a library however I was not aware of the estimated cost of $4M more than a new building. More importantly, I don’t know too many people in Breckenridge who have heard anything about this cost. I haven’t seen it publicized nearly as much as the visioning workshops the town had a few years ago.

Back with the visioning process the town obtained a huge amount of input which was greatly appreciated by the community. It makes sense to me that it is time to step back, to slow down a bit and ask the taxpayers if their preference is a brand new library at a small cost or renovating the old CMC at a huge cost.
