Jury seated for trial in love-triangle slaying

FORT COLLINS – A panel of 12 jurors and two alternates has been seated for the murder trial of Shawna Nelson, accused of killing her ex-lover’s wife.Jury selection wrapped up Thursday morning. Opening statements are expected later in the day.Nelson is charged with first-degree murder in the January 2007 shooting of Heather Garraus. Authorities say Garraus’ husband had ended an affair with Nelson the month before. The relationship produced a son.Police say a masked woman confronted Garraus as she was leaving work in Greeley, ordered her to her knees and shot her twice in the head.Nelson has denied any involvement. She faces life in prison without parole if convicted.The trial has been moved to Fort Collins.
