Kathleen Edwards: Issues in Silverthorne need addressing

I attended the February presentation by the Town of Silverthorne of the Willow Grove Trail exhibit. It was informative and well presented. Completion of this portion of the hike and bike trail along the Blue River is a project worth supporting.

Of equal importance is the necessity to re mediate immediately the benzene issue at the Sav-O-Mat gas station located on Silverthorne’s Blue River Parkway. It is as important to protect our town water wells and the Blue River as it is to build a lovely trail along side the Blue. One project should not out weigh the other. Hopefully the Town of Silverthorne, the proprietor of Sav-O-Mat and the State of Colorado Division of Oil and Public Safety will quickly come to the same conclusion.
