Kerin Mull: Chill out, locals!

Kerin Mull

I am writing to express my concern for our “local” community attitude. As many of you write in and complain about tourists invading “your” town and complicating things, it is with recent disgust that I write this note. Recently my parents came to town to enjoy our beautiful county, as they do every year for the last several years. I encourage them every time and tell them what a wonderful place we live in and that they are always welcome. My husband and I took them out to dinner at a “local” place in Frisco. While crossing the street, at a four-way stop, AND in the crosswalk, a fellow “local” decided to blaze through the stop sign and almost blatently run us out of the crosswalk. I shouted at the man and received a very unpleasant “F– You!” out of his window. What is wrong with you people? These visitors pay our paychecks, offer job security and feed our children/pets. It is so disappointing to me that I, as a “local” have to deal with the disrespect to people in general, not even tourists or otherwise. Get your heads on straight Summit Countians!
