Kevin Wood: Missing online comments

Kevin Wood

The SDN website has carried the message – “We’ve received your feedback, and are evaluating the options available for a different commenting system … Thanks for bearing with us.” – for several months now.

By failing to restore this feature or a new and improved version, you have lost credibility and removed a useful forum for community interaction and communication about issues and stories carried by your publication. Because of its AWOL status, I spend more time reading other publications that have such a feature, which most online versions of news publications now have – that allows nearly real-time interaction.

It seems SDN has decided to try to step back into the 20th century; I urge you instead to get with it and move ahead into future and bring back the comments.
