Keystone Citizens Leaguesays no to Dillon and getting taxes, no benefits

Bob Follett - president, Keystone Citizens League

The members of the Keystone Citizens League have listened to proposals for the annexation of Keystone by the town of Dillon.

Subsequently, the Keystone Citizens League appointed a committee and conducted further discussions with Dillon officials.

The tax increases that would accompany annexation have been carefully outlined to us.

We have asked what benefits would come to the citizens of Keystone in return for the additional taxes.

No benefits have been outlined for us.

An annexation which guarantees tax increases but cannot define any benefits is unlikely to gain approval by Keystone voters.

In the view of the Keystone Citizens League and its members, the issue of annexation is dead.

It will remain dead unless substantial benefits can be shown to the voters of Keystone.
