Keystone Resort winding down

Daily News staff report

KEYSTONE – Keystone Resort operations will begin paring down as the ski season draws to a close.

The Mountain House base area will close Sunday. The resort will reopen the area April 6-7 for the Mountain Dew Vertical Challenge and April 19 for a big-air competition.

Night skiing is scheduled to end Saturday. The tubing hill will close Sunday.

North Peak and the Outback will remain open through the projected end of the ski season, which is April 20. The Wayback lift, however, will end daily operation April 6. The lift will run on Saturdays and Sundays for the rest of the season. When the Wayback is closed, skiers and boarders can traverse to the Santiago and Ruby lifts via the gulch road.

The Outpost Gondola will stop running Sunday. Consequently, the Alpenglow Stube and Der Fondue Chessel restaurants also will close.
