Keystone VP of marketing let go

KEYSTONE – Keystone officials have announced the resignation of Margie Bootenhoff, the resort’s vice president of marketing.

“After considerable evaluation of the marketing function at Keystone, we believe a different perspective and new leadership is necessary to direct marketing efforts for the resort in the future,” Keystone Chief Operating Officer Roger McCarthy said in a statement released Friday.

“I was let go,” Bootenhoff said. “Don’t be confused, this was not my idea.”

Still, Bootenhoff said the parting was amicable and that Vail Resorts had treated her “fairly.”

“I think there’s a new Keystone and a lot of great plans for Keystone, and I think the senior management believes that new leadership in marketing makes sense with that new chapter in Keystone’s life,” she said.

Bootenhoff, who was with the company 27 years, said she planned to stay in Summit County but had no concrete plans for the future.

“I am looking into my options,” she said. “I am wide open.”
