Kiersten Macreery: Reform needed now

Kiersten Macreery

It’s long past time to pass health care reform. I, like many Americans, was disgusted to see the current bill take shape the way it did, but it doesn’t change the fact that reform is needed immediately. I think that the writer T.R. Reid was right when he wrote that universal health care is a moral issue and it is time for the U.S. to take the first steps in addressing this issue. His book “The Healing of America” should be required reading for all members of Congress. ALL Americans deserve equal health care regardless of income. That is a moral right, a human right and should be an American right. No American should live in fear of not being able to afford good medical care for themselves or their family. It is time for Congress to pass health reform now, This is not a perfect bill it is only a start and there will be opportunities to change parts of the bill that may not work in the future. Right now, we are like a deer in headlights, if no action is taken the results are unthinkable. We must do something now.
