Join cast members from Monty Python’s “Spamalot” for an evening of live music and fun on Wednesday, July 30, at the Breckenridge Backstage Theatre.

The multi-talented cast is led by Daniel Langhoff as King Arthur performing “What You Own” from “Rent,” by Jonathan Larson. Langhoff’s recent roles include Galahad (“Spamalot,” Aurora Fox) and Oliver Warbucks (“Annie,” Town Hall Arts Center).

Night of cabaret

Other highlights of the cabaret evening include “Monticello,” from the song cycle “Edges” by Pasek and Paul, sung by ensemble member Zach Nick, a native of Colorado who has performed in various venues in the Denver area, including The Vintage Theatre, The Bug and Performance Now, and “Moving Too Fast” from “The Last Five Years,” by Jason Robert Brown, sung by ensemble member Spencer Streno, currently pursuing his Bachelor of Fine Arts in musical theater at Shenandoah Conservatory. Streno’s most recent credits include Dean in “All Shook Up,” Borachio in “Much Ado About Nothing” and Jem in “To Kill a Mockingbird.”

“For Good,” from “Wicked,” by Stephen Schwartz, is a duet by ensemble members Morgan Patterson and Rylee Domann. Patterson is pursuing a degree in musical theater from the Chicago College of Performing Arts, while Domann is working on a degree in musical theater from Ball State University.

Guest artist Carolyn Lohr will be singing “Morning Person” from “Shrek the Musical,” by Jeanine Tesori and David Lindsay-Abaire. Lohr played Katie Monster in last summer’s “Avenue Q” and is Princess Fiona in the upcoming “Shrek the Musical,” running Thursday, Aug. 28, through Saturday, Sept. 6. at the Breckenridge Riverwalk Center. “Shrek” features Lohr and other professional actors in the lead roles, supported by 45 enthusiastic, local community amateurs.

The finale features “Find Your Grail” from “Spamalot” sung by the company of the cabaret. The evening starts at 8 p.m., and concessions are available and include Swedish Fish, beer, wine and mixed drinks, which can be taken into the theater with you.

Up next

As part of the Backstage Theatre’s continuing 40th anniversary celebration, “Discover DaVinci and Michelangelo: Side by Side” will be at the Breckenridge Riverwalk center Monday, Aug. 4, at 7:30 p.m. Mark Rodgers, curator of the “DaVinci Machines” and “Michelangelo” exhibitions from the permanent Museum of Leonardo DaVinci in Florence, Italy, will take you on an awe-inspiring journey through the Italian Renaissance as seen through the eyes of these two monumental geniuses. The challenge proposed is for everyone to discover his or her own inner DaVinci and Michelangelo.

All of these events are fundraisers for the Breckenridge Backstage Theatre. In May 2015, the theater is getting an extensive upgrade, including an expanded lobby, more seating and a raised roof. Attendance at these fundraisers helps support the theater while it is on the move during the six- to nine-month construction period.
