Komen Denver Race for the Cure runs Oct. 2

The Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation is holding its annual Komen Denver Race For the Cure on Oct. 2. at the Pepsi Center. Now in its 13th year, the race helps to raise breast cancer awareness as well as money to fight the disease. The Komen Denver Race for the Cure is the largest such race in the nation, making for an event that is not only important for breast cancer patients and their loved ones, but also inspirational for the entire community.This year’s event features several walks and races for all levels of physical expertise. Scheduled events include:- Competitive 5K Run: Starts at 7 a.m. and is limited to the first 4,000 registrants;- Women’s 5K Walk/Run: Starts at 7:30 a.m.; – Co-ed 5K Walk/Run: Starts at 8:30 a.m. and is open to everyone;- Family Fun Walk: Starts at 9:15 a.m. and features a walk of less than a mile;- Sleep In for the Cure: For those who can’t make it to the race, an opportunity to sign up and receive a special race T-shirt with the “Sleep In” logo on the back.For more information, contact Joan Davids at (970) 513-9898 or visit the website at http://www.raceforthecure-denver.com
