Kris Clark: Yes on Park County Ref. 3A
September 28, 2009
My husband, children and I have been very pleased with the quality of education in the Park County RE-2 district. However, the school campus consists of a hodge-podge of structures that are expensive to heat and maintain. Overcrowding has forced classes into temporary modulars. The schools have leaking roofs, do not meet current environmental health standards and are not handicap accessible. I have spoken to parents who haul their children to Summit County because of the disrepair of the RE-2 schools. I believe new schools will bring some of these students back to our district and send a message to families that are considering a move to Park County that we value education and our children’s future.
On Nov. 3, the voters of Park County have the chance to double their money and secure a brighter future for our children. Voting yes on Referendum 3A will secure $15 million in matching funds through the State of Colorado’s BEST grant program allowing taxpayers to replace the existing South Park High School, Silverheels Middle School and Edith Teter Elementary School for half the tax burden!
Please do the right thing for our children and our community and vote YES on Referendum 3A.
