Kristin Saybe: Let Colorado lead on clean energy

Kristin Saybe

Colorado and our utilities have proven that we have enormous potential for renewable energy by being on pace to beat our current goal of 20 percent renewable energy by 2020. Why on Earth would we stop now? HB1001 requires our large utility companies to generate 30 percent of our electricity from renewable sources, a move that Xcel Energy support. It will also encourage the average Coloradan to be a part of our New Energy Economy with solar panels and small wind turbines on their homes. Diversifying our energy portfolio is something that big business and the average consumer can and should be a part of.

I urge all Coloradans to let your state legislators know that we want our state to become the nation’s leader in clean energy. Voice your support for a 30 percent renewable energy standard.
