Krystal 93 crowned 2003 Station of the Year

SUMMIT COUNTY – KYSL, Krystal 93 FM, received 18 awards for a medium-size market radio station at the recent Colorado Broadcasters Association awards gala.

Amongst those accolades was the “2003 Station of the Year” award, which KYSL secured for the second consecutive year.

Station manager Maureen “Mo” Bennett was recognized as the 2003 Broadcast Citizen of the Year. This award was created to recognize individual contribution to public service given in the recipient’s community.

Krystal also received first place awards for the following:

n Best Community Service Campaign – Open Mic;

n Best Station Sponsored Community Event – Microphone Marathon;

n Best News/Talk Broadcast Personality – Tom Fricke and Billy Bob Thornton;

n Best Midday Show – Amy Yundt;

n Best Commercial Spot Announcement – Colorado River Center;

n Best Sales Promotion – Matrix Reloaded Sneak Preview; and

n Best On Air Contest – 12 Days of Christmas

In addition, Krystal accepted nine certificate of merit honors.

Krystal 93 owns the airwaves on 93.1 FM in the Vail Valley and 93.9 in Summit County. In the 16th year of broadcasting, Krystal 93 remains one of the last independently owned and operated radio stations.
