Anthony Sandoval, a 17-year-old charged as an adult in the Feb. 13 Kum and Go robbery in Silverthorne, was sentenced to 12 years in prison Monday. But he wont serve the time if he completes a six-year juvenile rehabilitation program.Judge Karen Romeo, who imposed the sentence on Sandoval, said it was a gift.Romeo encouraged Sandoval to turn his life around. She also noted that while Sandoval denied gang involvement, countless pictures posted on MySpace.com showed him flashing gang signs and showing allegiance to the Surenos a California-based gang with strong connections in Colorado. If you are a gang member and commit a violent crime, you will no longer be a part of our community, said District Attorney Mark Hurlbert.Wearing black ski masks, Sandoval and two other juveniles burst into Kum and Go, armed with pellet guns that appeared to be handguns. They demanded that clerks hand over money and fled with $366. A fourth man, 18-year-old Francisco Lopez, served as a lookout prior to the robbery and drove the getaway vehicle from the scene.
