Crisis services
Starting July 1, calls and texts to Colorado Crisis Services will be connected to the state’s new mental health line. With this switch, 988 will become the state’s primary crisis line. By calling or texting 988, individuals can receive immediate emotional, mental health or substance use support 24/7. The service is free and confidential to use. 988 offers specialized services for Spanish-speakers, veterans, LGBTQ+ youth and young adults, and the deaf and hard-of-hearing community.
Water safety
A storm June 1 brought 40 mph wind gusts that caused 2-4 foot waves on Dillon Reservoir, leading to six rescues. Nobody was hurt, but the Sheriff’s Office is reminding water users to always:
- Wear a life jacket
- Check local radar before going out
- Mark all paddlecraft with name and phone number
- Bring a whistle and use a leash for all paddlecraft
DMV fraud
The Colorado Division of Motor Vehicles is warning about fraudulent text messages. Scammers are impersonating the DMV, falsely claiming recipients have unpaid tickets and threatening consequences. The goal of the fraudulent messages is to frighten recipients into clicking malicious links and divulging personal or financial information.
