Lake Dillon Fire seeking nominations for board of directors

Four seats are up for grabs on the Lake Dillon Fire Protection District Board of Directors in the May 6 special-district election.

Fire officials are accepting self-nominations through the end of the month.

Three of the four spots up for election are for four-year terms. The person seated to the fourth spot will fill the balance of a two-year term recently vacated by longtime board member Linda St. John. Those interested in running for election may choose the term they are seeking.

Current board President Jerry “Doc” Peterson of Dillon has indicated that he is stepping down after more than 50 years of service to the Summit County fire district. Additionally, the seats held by directors Robert Sollenberger, of Silverthorne, and Jim Cox, of Summit Cove, are up for election, as is the seat vacated by St. John, which was filled through the appointment of Lori Miller, of Mesa Cortina.

To self-nominate, candidates must be eligible voters in the Lake Dillon Fire Protection District. Board members serve voluntarily, without compensation.

To date, five petitions have been submitted, necessitating an election. Polling places will be established in Frisco, Silverthorne and Summit Cove.

Self-nomination forms may be obtained at Lake Dillon Fire Station 10, 301 Blue River Parkway in Silverthorne. Forms must be returned by 5 p.m. on Feb. 28.
