LAPS sailing fundraiser set for this weekend

DAILY NEWS STAFF REPORT

DILLON – June 16 and 17, the annual Let’s Go Sailing fundraiser for the League for Animals and People of the Summit will be held at the Dillon Marina. The event offers an introductory captained sailing tour on Dillon Reservoir for a suggested donation of $20 per adult and $10 per child. Pontoon boat rides will be available for people with children under 12 (since kids must be 12 years or older to sail). The Dillon Marina donates their proceeds and the captains volunteer their time for the LAPS event. Registration is at the Dillon Marina from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. Boats leave the dock every 45 minutes all day, both days, weather permitting. This year LAPS will be selling Stephen Huneck designed shirts with a nautical doggie theme, as well as baked goods donated by Kula’s Deli in Dillon. LAPS is a local nonprofit organization that raises funds to support a variety of programs to benefit pets and their owners, and acts as a support group to the Summit County Animal Shelter.
