Learn some new slogans, GOP (letter)

Sadly, Republican (or some right-wing extremist group impersonating them?) arrogance and ignorance was on full display at the Summit parades on the 4th.

Their float featured many offensive signs — the first of which said “If you love your country, vote for someone who will defend it” (Offensive in its assumption that they have the market cornered regarding this issue).

Fact is, as a progressive, I regularly vote for candidates who will defend our country: its women, children, people of color, workers, poor people, the 99%, citizens of all sexual orientations, differently-abled folks and those not rich enough to own second or third homes in Summit County…

Another sign featured the usual dis on the specter of socialism — I guess socialism in our nation is reserved only for big-bank bailouts and propping up Wall Street criminals.

The Republican song is old, tired and erroneous, like many of its party membership.

Time to learn a new one, GOP!
