For ten years, Dillon Valley Elementary teacher Cheri Breeman has been hooking her students up with Keystone’s Childrens Center instructors to teach them to ski and develop gross motor skills. Breeman has been teaching in the Summit School District since 1993, first as a paraprofessional, then as an Early Childhood Special Education teacher.

When Breeman started with the district, Jonna Wooldridge ran Keystone’s Childrens Center, and approached her about providing three days of ski instruction at no cost to the children, in exchange for giving her new instructors experience with real children.

The program continues today, but has been paired down to one day of instruction because of budget limitations. Breeman said Keystone Resort has been very supportive of the program over the years and is proud of the partnership and her students progress in learning to ski and develop their motor skills.
