DENVER – A Denver judge is considering whether to delay the printing of Colorado’s voters’ guide because of objections from backers of marijuana legalization.

The Campaign to Regulate Marijuana Like Alcohol filed a lawsuit in Denver District Court after a state panel edited some of the comments, saying they could cause legal problems. A judge was listening to arguments in the case Monday.

The panel added a disclaimer last week saying legalizing marijuana wouldn’t automatically produce a tax windfall from a new tax because voters would have to approve it.

Lawmakers also struck some of the suggested benefits from legalizing marijuana that supporters wanted voters to read.

Lawmakers cannot change ballot language, but they can change how proposals are described to voters.
