Legislative Affairs Council Meeting set for Tuesday
The April meeting of the Summit Chamber’s Legislative Affairs Council will concern the controversial issue of whether in-state tuition rates for state-supported colleges and universities should be offered to children of adults who are in this country illegally. The meeting will be held from noon to 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday at the Summit County Community and Senior Center in Frisco. No reservations are needed. Please bring your own lunch and beverage along with your thinking cap, opinion and questions for an exciting discussion of this important issue.
Four education and immigration leaders have agreed to air their views at the meeting, Alton Scales, Dean Dean of the Colorado Mountain College Summit Campus, Millie Hamner, Superintendent of the Summit Schools, Meghan McGee-Bonta, with the Family and Intercultural Resource Center (a local non-profit that helps many immigrants in the county) and Julie Gonzales, political coordinator for the Colorado Immigrant Rights Coalition (CIRC).
