Legislative forum today in Frisco to focus on education
FRISCO – School administrators from Summit, Eagle and Lake counties will gather with state leaders and legislators this morning in Frisco to discuss education issues present across the region to help politicians potentially form future legislation.The meeting begins at 9 a.m. at the Summit School District administration building next to the middle school in Frisco.State Rep. Dan Gibbs, D-Silverthorne; Senate President Joan Fitz-Gerald, D-Coal Creek Canyon; and Tim Mauck, U.S. Rep. Mark Udall’s Western Slope director will attend, as will state Rep. Andy Kerr, D-Lakewood, and Jared Polis from the Colorado State Board of Education. Topics will include school finance, including a snapshot comparison of the three districts, an overview of changes being considered this year and at-risk definitions for high cost-of living areas, school accountability reports and all-day kindergarten.Each school district will also speak about their respective demographics, and their successes and challenges.The forum runs until noon.
