Once again the headline reads ‘Breck Parking Garage Talks Stall’

To Vail Resorts and Breckenridge Town Council: Once again the headline reads “Breck Parking Garage Talks Stall.” The solution to this problem is so simple, it boggles the mind that these two entities can’t come to a reasonable agreement.

First, have the south gondola lot (the best location for a parking garage) assessed (by three assessors).

Second, have the estimate for the cost of building the parking garage.

Third, and most important, put a bunch of lawyers from each side in a room together and knock out an ironclad agreement that protects both sides. Take the percent of ownership and split the revenue accordingly. Town council needs to realize it needs a real partnership with the largest employer in Summit County.

Vail Resorts has an option that the town does not. It can put Breckenridge Ski Resort on the market. Anyone thinking that’s a good idea should talk to the locals in Steamboat Springs. Steamboat is now part of the Ikon pass. Senior pass, gone. Local pass, gone. Military pass, doesn’t exist in the Ikon pass.
