Letter-writer missed point about coming home to Breckenridge

In response to Gordon Haines: I must assume you completely missed my point about returning to Breckenridge.

Never in my adult life have I expected society to hand me anything. I have pounded the pavement and worked my hands to the bone to support myself and my family.

I am not so young and immature that I don’t understand the concept of inflation and its benefits. Never once did I state that my fellow citizens should bow down to me because I deserve something more than everyone else.

I simply brought up the fact the people who make this place what it is deserve a break. After all, if it weren’t for all of us who work ourselves crazy, this would be a run-down mining town. I think too many people have forgotten that. And for you to imply that I am uneducated and lazy only proves my point more. I have an unwavering respect for my property as well as others. I would suggest that it is you who has the lack of respect for others.

In the end, you are also implying that unless you are older and have been properly educated you should keep your opinions to yourself. Or am I too uneducated to grasp your bashing of my character.

Oh, by the way, I have found a landlord to whom I would gladly pay a $1,000 deposit simply because he showed respect for my family and my situation, which is a hell of a lot more than I can say for the other five property owners I met with.

So, for your information Mr. Haines, I am not ignorant and I have too much pride to sit idly by while others walk all over me. Which is more than I can say for you. I encourage other locals, with pride for how they make this town what it is, to take a stand and demand the respect they deserve.
