Letters to the editor worthy of satire found in The Onion

I wonder if the letters to the editor page shouldn’t be renamed the Summit Onion.

The bombastic exaggeration and sky-is-falling rants belie even the most sarcastic send-up from the national satirical publication.

And I want to thank you for printing them.

Like The Onion, it’s always a delight to read facts and other fun non sequitirs twisted beyond reality: We fought a war with the Japanese in World War One (yes, One).

Choosing a Republican means you have no conscience (I guess we woke up Wednesday to a national lack thereof).

And my recent, if not threadbare, favorite: The attribution of the national “bitch” ads to the recent spate of violence perpetrated by (local) edgy people. (Rumor is, said ads are possibly responsible for the national election results, global warming and ring around the collar.)

Some quotes come to mind:

“Never let facts get in the way of a good argument.” – Unknown.

Or, “Math is hard!” – Barbie.

Please consider the name change, and keep it coming.
