The Summit County Libraries would like to thank everyone who helped to make our 2010 Summer Reading Program a success. Among the local companies, community members and volunteers who offered their support were the Elaine Gerson Fund of the Friends of the Library, Subway Restaurants, The Next Page Bookstore, The Summit Daily News, The Balance Sheet, Round the Mountain, Borders, Wendy’s, Smashburger, The Town of Breckenridge and the Stephen C. Throughout the course of the summer, we had almost 3,000 visits from children attending either the special programs, the regular weekly programs, or both, at all three library locations – a significant increase over last year. And, with the help of our wonderful staff, volunteers and community members, children logged more than 5300 hours of summer reading! We’d also like to congratulate the winner of this year’s grand prize, an iPod Touch and portable speaker system, for participating in the Young Adult Summer Reading Program. Sabrina D’Andrea, a 7th grader from Dillon, turned in the maximum of 5 cards (40 hours read). Congratulations, Sabrina! And, finally, we’d like to thank the wonderful dogs who listened patiently to our young readers, and their owners who shared their pets with us – Brad Perry and Max, Ann Hill and Luke, Jan Shipman and Woodrow, Adrienne Sielaff and Pepper, Jo Anne Tyson and Monty, and Susan Alderman and Alma.
