Little Red School House welcomes new director

The Little Red School House in Breckenridge welcomes Greta McCormick as executive director. McCormick has been teaching at the preschool for more than four and a half years, according to a press release from Little Red.

She takes over for Jill Dixon, who’s been with the school for more than 10 years.

“We actually have the best of both worlds in this situation,” Little Red board president Trip Butler said in the press release. “Jill realized that her true passion is in the classroom, so our children will benefit from her love and compassion, while Greta’s strong leadership will provide a smooth transition for our Little Red community.”

McCormick graduated from Virginia Tech with a bachelor’s of science degree in human services. She’s been involved with many administrative functions at the preschool including grant writing, fundraising, school certifications and more, according to the press release.

Little Red is a nonprofit, Montessori-based preschool and early-childhood learning center serving children from six weeks to six years of age. It’ss been in operation more than 25 years. The school’s location on Reiling Road was built five years ago with help from the community.
