Local artist commissioned to paint sixth annual Blue River Festival poster

The Town of Silverthorne today announced that Marianna Duford has been commissioned to paint the original artwork for the sixth annual Blue River Festival.

Duford is a native Coloradan and a lifelong artist whose love of the outdoors fuels her passion for painting.

She gained notoriety in 2007 as the artist behind “Goodnight ODI,” a painting of the now-closed Old Dillon Inn.

The original pieces created by artists for the Festival are on display in the Outlets at Silverthorne Management Office, located in the Green Village.

Posters of this year’s artwork will go on sale in September

This year’s Blue River Festival will take place Sept. 13-14. Eighteen teams of four will compete in a three-day fly fishing and golf tournament.

The Festival kicks off with a dinner and silent auction at the Silverthorne Pavilion Friday evening, Sept. 12.

Team members will experience some of the most coveted private water and challenging fairways in Colorado.

Proceeds from the Festival benefit the Blue River through restoration and improvements done by the Town of Silverthorne.
