Local author and historian signing new book at several locations this week

Summit County author-historian Mary Ellen Gilliland will autograph her new historical book Friday from 5-7 p.m. at Weber’s Books in Breckenridge.Gilliland will give a short historical presentation during the autograph session.Released Thursday, the 25th anniversary edition of “SUMMIT, a Gold Rush History of Summit County, Colorado” offers readers a hands-on history, including historical bike, jeep and auto tours. The book has 512 pages with 250 new images. It provides new material on local history including a look back at the birth of Summit’s ski mountains, the story of ranches of the Lower Blue, Frisco area and Keystone and a “then and now” photograph section.Call Weber’s at (970) 453-4723 for more information.Gilliland will also be signing copies of her new book at Borders Books in Dillon on Saturday from 1-4 p.m. Sunday, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., she will be signing copies of both her new books, including “Rascals, Scoundrels and No Goods” at the Summit Historical Society’s Schoolhouse Museum located at 403 LaBonte St. in Dillon.
