Local photographer featured in Denver trade publication

BRECKENRIDGE – Fiery, luscious reds and haunting blacks landed local photographer Matt Lit in the “Publisher’s Choice” section of the May issue of Advertising and Marketing review, a Denver-based trade publication that Lit describes as a “Who’s Who-type of publication.”

He shot his photo of belly dancer Sandy Kruger at the Ridge Street Bar and Grill in Breckenridge during a performance of the Mountain Gypsy Tribe.

“I had just purchased my first digital camera and was experimenting with its low-light capabilities,” Lit said. “I was using a very slow shutter speed combined with flash. I discovered this combination creates an accentuated glow – especially with reds. So, like with many cool images, there’s a great deal of fluke factor to it I hadn’t anticipated.”

Lit, who runs A Lit Production Inc. in Silverthorne and teaches at Colorado Mountain College, said he hopes the increased publicity will lead to future work.

“It’s a crap shoot,” he said. “You put your best work out there and hope that someone sees it and that the person that sees it likes it that day.”

Mountain Gypsy Tribe, based out of Breckenridge, performs American-style tribal belly dance around the state.
