FRISCO – Fourteen local dancers participated last weekend in the West Coast Dance Explosion convention and competition.

Summit School of Dance’s CoMotion Dancers traveled to Denver for the two-day event and received top honors.

Under the direction of Mandy Sherar, CoMotion is a performing company of dancers comprised of middle and high school students who audition annually and are considered among Summit County’s most talented and well-trained. The weekend event consisted of intensive training in ballet, jazz, modern, tap, hip-hop and musical theater. Instructors at West Coast Dance Explosion are top professionals in the industry with national and international credentials.

The highlight of the weekend was Saturday night’s competition in which more than 80 performances by dancers from throughout the region were judged. CoMotion dancers received silver medals for each of four numbers they performed. Additionally, Nicole Witzke earned scholarships for individual auditions.
