Aspen Skiing Co: Be careful out there

Citing early-season hazards and conditions, Aspen Skiing Co. is warning skiers and snowboarders to recreate at their own risk on the company’s four mountains.

Skico currently is not operating any of the mountains.

“The areas are not patrolled or controlled and skiers should be prepared for self-rescue and evacuation,” Skico said in a statement. “Snowmaking and mountain preparation are underway and snowcats, snowmobiles, hoses and other equipment could be encountered at any time. Please use extreme caution.”

The Aspen and Snowmass ski areas are scheduled to open Nov. 28. Aspen Highlands and Buttermilk are set for Dec. 14.
