The Red, White and Blue Fire Department and the Breckenridge Police Department are hosting a “We will never forget” ceremony to remember the men and women who gave their lives during the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks in New York City and Washington, D.C.
The ceremony takes place at 9 a.m. Thursday at the flagpole in front of the Breckenridge Fire Station, 316 N. Main St. The public is invited to attend.
This year marks the 13th anniversary of the Sept. 11 attacks. In 2009, Congress designated Sept. 11 as a national day of service and remembrance.
The intent of Thursday’s short ceremony is not to memorialize those who died on that day, but to honor the heroism, bravery and generosity of those who gave their lives protecting their communities during the attacks and of those throughout the nation who continue to protect their communities, a Red, White and Blue Fire news release stated.
