The town of Breckenridge plans to increase existing water user fees by 1 percent beginning Jan. 1, 2014. Previously, the base fee was $30.95 per billing cycle per SFE, and in 2014 the base fee will be $31.25. The excess use charge will increase from $3.08 to $3.11 for every 1,000 gallons. The town council unanimously passed the first reading of the ordinance, which will go into effect if passed at second reading Nov. 26. The town reviews the water rates every year as part of the budget, and must pass a new ordinance outlining the fees. The council also passed the first reading of an ordinance establishing the 2014 Property Tax Mill Levy at the rate of 5.07 mills, the lowest in several years.
