Frisco Wassail Days to feature sprinting Santas

The Frisco Wassail Days wrap up this weekend with a full slate of Santa-filled events and more opportunities to vote for your favorite wassail, a hot cider drink.

This weekend’s festivities kick off from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday with the Victorian Wassail Night at the Museum at the Frisco Historic Park & Museum, 120 Main St. in Frisco. The community open house will feature hot chocolate, cookies and wassail, as well as readings of the holiday classic “’Twas the Night Before Christmas.” The readings are scheduled to take place from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m.

From 8:30 to 11 a.m. Saturday, Backcountry Brewery, 720 Main St. in Frisco, is hosting a breakfast with the holiday’s favorite big guy. Breakfast with Santa is sponsored by Copper Mountain Resort and benefits Summit County Preschool. Reservations are required and can be made by calling the preschool at 668-5508, ext. 1.

Santa will then head to the Frisco Historic Park & Museum from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. to meet with local children, before the 3 p.m. start of the Santa Dash on Main Street.

To register for Santa Dash, visit Once registered, participants will receive a Frisco Santa shirt, Santa hat and a voucher for one free hour of tubing at the Frisco Adventure Park.

In honor of the season of giving, every paid participant will receive a stocking filled with goodies and, perhaps, a few surprises, such as gift certificates or cash.

“The special treats including gift certificates and cash, which are part of the Santa Dash, are a sweet way to give participants an opportunity to shop Frisco’s charming Main Street for a special gift during Wassail Days,” said Nora Gilbertson, town of Frisco events manager, in a news release.

The holiday festivities conclude Sunday, which also marks the final day for shoppers to vote for their favorite wassail recipes and enter for a chance to win a trip back to Frisco for the BBQ Challenge. Wassail will be available at participating businesses.

New this year is the “twelve sips of Wassail” punch card. Shoppers who visit 12 wassail-serving businesses and receive a stamp can turn in their completed punch card for a free commemorative mug at the Frisco-Copper Visitor Information Center.
