Keystone Resort invites visitors to celebrate the season with holiday activities

Daily News staff report

In the last week Keystone Resort received more than a foot of snow, and with more flakes in the forecast officials are encouraging visitors to start planning their Summit County holiday getaways.

Keystone is ringing in the holiday season with specials to ensure families don’t break the bank, including 50 percent off lodging deals and free skiing for kids ages 12 and under with any stay of two or more nights’ duration at Keystone lodges. The kids-ski-free program lasts all season with no restriction, meaning families big and small can enjoy the offer.

Holiday activities will kick off Nov. 30 with Keystone’s tree lighting ceremony in the heart of River Run Village. The evening celebration also will include carolers and an appearance by Santa and his reindeer. The night will be capped by the Welcome Winter Family Carnival.

The holiday merriment continues through the season with parades, fireworks, ice skating parties and all of Keystone’s festive daily activities, including the mountaintop tubing hill, Kidtopia Snowfort, two ice-skating rinks, snowshoeing and more.

Santa Claus is planning to make an appearance Dec. 24 during a special holiday breakfast before he sets off on his busy night of gift-giving.

Officials are anticipating a white Christmas as Keystone continues to see an abundance of early-season snowfall. Currently offering nearly 150 skiable acres, the resort will look to expand terrain ahead of Thanksgiving and again moving into December.

Skiers and riders of all abilities will enjoy fantastic on-snow conditions, with all of Keystone’s three peaks scheduled to open for the holidays.
