Lake Dillon Fire-Rescue hosts open house Wednesday at Keystone station

Daily Staff Report

Lake Dillon Fire-Rescue is hosting its annual open house today from 4 to 7 p.m. at its Keystone station.

The event features activities for the whole family, including a live side-by-side fire-safety demonstration that will display of how sprinklers can prevent fires from spreading.

Participants can take part in a hands-on fire-extinguisher training. The open house will also showcase other public-safety organizations, including the American Red Cross and the Colorado State Patrol.

Kids who get “passport” sign-offs from every safety station will be entered to win great give-aways, including a full-season Epic Pass from Vail Resorts.

“We love welcoming our friends and neighbors to a different fire station each year, and our Keystone station is a great venue for our open house,” said LDFR Chief Dave Parmley in a press release. “This is always a fun event. We’d like to invite everyone to bring the family out to check out our fire apparatus and crew quarters, rub elbows with our firefighters and renew their fire-safety awareness.”

The open house comes on the heels of Fire Prevention Week – during which Lake Dillon firefighters and staff visited each elementary school and conducted fire-safety lessons with the enthusiastic kids. The event can serve as a reinforcement of those critical skills.

Everyone attending will be given an LDFR gift pack and hotdogs. The event is free and open to everyone.
