Nonprofit briefs: Silent auction to benefit Colorado Avalanche Information Center

BUCKS BENEFIT SUPPORTS COLORADO AVALANCHE INFORMATION CENTER

This weekend, the Breckenridge Bucks will face the Aspen Leafs in the “Resort Town Showdown,” a match between the two junior hockey teams combined with a silent auction to benefit the Colorado Avalanche Information Center.

The silent auction will start at 5 p.m. on Jan. 22 at the Rio Grande in Frisco, and continue throughout the weekend.

“All of the money from those items will go to Friends of the CAIC,” spokesman Seth Hyman said.

Ski equipment, backpacks, helmets and even geocaching gear will be up for bid until Saturday night.

The Bucks will play at the Stephen C. West Ice Arena, on both Friday and Saturday at 7:50 p.m. Tickets are $10.

TICKETS ON SALE FOR BREWERS ROCK FOR RESCUE

The annual Brewers Rock for Rescue will be hosted next Saturday, Jan. 30 at the Silverthorne Pavilion. Benefitting Summit County Search and Rescue, 24 breweries will offer tastings on site.

Tickets are currently on sale, for $35 in advance, or $45 at the door. Denver-based bluegrass band Oakhurst will play the opening act, and the Summit County Youth Orchestra will headline the event.

The event will run from 5-9 p.m., with beer included in the ticket, and food available for purchase.

MOBILE FOOD PANTRY RELOCATES

The Food Bank of the Rockies will no longer split their monthly mobile food pantry between Silverthorne and Breckenridge, opting for one central location in Frisco. The food pantry will now be available indoors, at the Summit Stage Bus Barn at 0222 County Shops Road, located off Peak One Boulevard.

The mobile food pantry is open to the public, and held every fourth Tuesday of the month. The next pantry will come to Frisco on Jan. 28, starting at 10 a.m. Food is first-come, first-served.
